Akashic Analysis:
A Case Study
At the end of 2022, I had an apprenticeship with Veronica Conway where I was responsible mainly for document formatting, minor text editing, and transferring content from one platform to another. I present here the best document that I had produced during my time under her teachings, showcasing the best of my abilities when it comes to editing, typographical hierarchy, and overall writing.
Ever had an email advertisement you wanted to send, yet it seemed to be too long and too cluttered to really catch the attention of your audience? That was the issue my apprenticeship mentor had when she sent me to look over her advert for her latest series of holistic classes.
Here is how it looked before:
When the document was sent into my hands, I knew that I had to take this project on as a writer, an editor, as well as a UX designer.
Task: To make an advert a lot easier to comprehend for busy business people, hopefully done within a week.
Platforms Used: Canva, Adobe Acrobat
First Approach: I began to tackle this project by first breaking down the document into individual paragraphs, each one of which I edited in Adobe Acrobat.
As you might have read above, the original text was a lot more robotic in a way, with moments of run on sentences and almost no appeal to the general personality of the clientele. What had to change above all else was the direction of the voice, which I switched from being very corporate-like to sounding as if the document was talking directly to the reader.
After the Edit: Next step was simply to add the text to a newly formatted Canva project. Unfortunately, I had to sacrifice the length of the advert for the sake of formatting the text in a readable way. It resulted in a five page on-boarding "pamphlet" type of document that later was turned into an interactive website by my mentor herself.
How it looks now:
In the End...
I am probably most proud of my version of the Akashik Analysis advert document, both because I got to use the best of my abilities to result in something legitimate and because my efforts are now being fully displayed by my mentor during her introductory campaign.
